Rite 1
In connection with the 150th anniversary of Veghel's order of Franciscan Nuns, the convent garden, which is open to the public, is the location for a sculpture exhibition around the theme of 'faith' My contribution to the exhibition is based on three elements: -The monumental strength of the plane-tree lane in the garden, which forms a meditative element. The ritual meaning of the prayer cycles of convent life. The sound of bells – which mark the times of prayer – as sculpture and means of communication. The Angelus is the daily prayer which takes place at 12 and 18 a clock. After consultation with the nuns I hung the chapel bell in the middle of the plane-tree lane. Each day, during the period of the exhibition, the Angelus will be rung there by a nun of the order.
