dubbele spiraal 1 - double spiral 1
The exhibition space of Lokaal 01 has two middle points in the form of two cast iron pillars. For the performance the space is completely blacked out. Ricardo and myself are dressed in black and on our heads we are wearing a set of battery powered halogen spotlights. Each of us stands at a pillar.
In the dark, keeping one hand on the pillar, we rotate in circles as quickly as possible in opposite directions. At this point, simultaneously, we switch on our lights.
The projected beams fly around the walls of the space. We slowly increase the walking radius of our circles, while at the same time slowing down our speed as gradually as possible. Our circles begin to meet each other and still later intersect. Consequently our circles become so wide that we are walking close to the walls of the space. The speed is then much decreased and eventually we are standing still and both patches of light have come to rest on the wall somewhere in the space.
